Lingam and Prostate Massage: What is it and why get one?

Wheat spikes against a beautiful sunset

Lingam and prostate massages are terms that are often whispered and discussed in hushed conversations. I’m sure you know what the prostate gland is, although you probably think that the words ‘problem’ and even ‘cancer’ usually come after it. And lingam? That’s the ancient Sanskrit word for ‘penis’.

It’s unusual in our culture to approach these organs with anything other than embarrassment and a cold and clinical examination. In fact, our sexual organs are never treated in a tender and affectionate way by doctors. Whilst our shoulders and back are massaged and tended to, the sexual organs are often considered taboo.

Some of the most common cancers in our society are cancers of the sexual organs. Could our neglect of these essential areas be part of the reason for this?

Sexuality has been put away and shamed in Western cultures for hundreds of years. There has been some shift in peoples’ attitudes in the past half a century, and yet a lot of sexuality still remains taboo – something to be compartmentalised and separated from the rest of our life.

Compare this to some ancient Indian cultures were sexual organs were revered. To this day, statues of the ‘Shiva Lingam’ (God’s penis) adorn the alters in many Hindu temples. Sexual organs were considered to be sacred, and a representation of cosmic life-force energy.

There are many cultures where sexuality is not seen as something to be ashamed of. Chinese culture has a far more pragmatic attitude and views sex as being about health.

In Asia, it’s possible to receive therapeutic genital massages such as ‘Karsai Nei Tsang’, which is a Taoist (Ancient Chinese) massage aimed at clearing blockages in the blood and lymphatic vessels. and maintaining good sexual function and health.

So, how can some parts of the world revere our sexual organs whilst others fear them? The answer is simple, sexual organs contain so much power. They contain the power to create life. If you went on the street and showed your penis, you could be arrested. It’s that powerful.

Tantric massage (which originates from ancient India) can give a whole new insight into sexuality and spirituality. A skilled practitioner will work to open up the flow of vital life-force energy in the body. As esoteric and strange as this may sound, it’s a tangible thing, a feeling of vibration in the body that can almost be compared to the first time a teenager in the 1990s took an ecstasy pill – except there are no side effects.

How can Tantric Massage Support You?

As well as being an incredible thing to experience, Tantric massage, when offered therapeutically by a qualified practitioner, can also be beneficial for the following conditions:

  • Sexual abuse, including rape
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Anorgasmia
  • Female genital mutilation (FGM)
  • Chronic health conditions
  • Infertility
  • Childbirth trauma
  • Male circumcision
  • Impotence and premature ejaculation
  • Pornography addiction
  • Excessive masturbation
  • Feelings of guilt a shame relating to sexuality
  • Low energy levels
  • Excessive negative energy and emotions

Tantric Massage Often Includes All Parts of Your Body

During a tantric massage, the practitioner will work on your whole body. This means the whole body, so nothing is neglected, including your lingam and prostate gland if agreed in advance. Massage of the lingam and prostate is always accompanied by a full body massage, as it’s essential to open and relax the body first.

Massaging the genital area is an essential part of tantric massage, because it helps to awaken vital life-force energy in the body. According to Chinese medicine, our main energy point is in the perineum (the area between the sexual organs and anus). Traditionally, this was called the ‘Hui Yin’, or in modern times, ‘the million-dollar point’. Martial arts students would traditionally pay their master 100 pieces of gold to touch and activate this point.

Prostate Massage

The prostate gland is considered to be the master gland by Taoists and its health is of utmost importance. Prostate massage can be offered as a preventative treatment, including prostate cancer. Physical toxins (from chemicals in toiletries, for example) as well as emotional toxins and traumas accumulate here, causing blockages which can eventually lead to health problems.

Although the idea of having such an intimate area massaged may seem unusual or terrifying, the massage can lead to a deep relaxation of the whole pelvic area. For men who are looking to prolong sexual experiences, it’s very effective in reducing the imminent need to ejaculate. It can also heighten sexual experience and orgasm, as well as having a balancing effect on our emotions, reducing feelings like anger, frustration and fear.

The massage targets the biochemical and physical structure of the body and there can be clear and immediate benefits. The whole pelvic area can release significantly and become much more relaxed. It can also relax the whole body, improve digestion and may even help with a range of psychological disorders.

Prostate massage is also an excellent treatment for premature ejaculation, as PE is often caused by an accumulation of toxins in the prostate, leading to an urgency to ejaculate. Once the toxins have been cleared, the prostate can start to experience orgasms. These can continue for extended periods of time and it’s a way for a man to become multi-orgasmic, like a woman.

Lingam Massage

Lingam massage, or massage of the penis, is a traditional tantric massage that has three purposes. It starts with techniques to clear blockages in the blood flow and lymph to strengthen erection. This is called ‘Karsai Nei Tsang’. The practitioner works to massage the whole area much like a lymphatic drainage.

According to Tantric and Taoist theory, negative emotions get stored in your sexual organs in these reflexology areas. This can happen to people who are sexually assaulted, but can also happen to people who have had any bad sexual experiences, such as being shamed about their sexuality, pain from the break-up of a relationship, surgical procedures, and so on. So, the tantric practitioner will also be working to help clear these emotions.

The third part of lingam massage is the tantric secret to full body orgasms. As the sexual energy builds up, the practitioner will help you to redirect the sexual energy up your body. It will rise up to your Heart, creating a palpable sensation, a warmth and tingling that connects your Heart with your sexual area. As the energy starts to flow up your body, it brings a tingling euphoric sensation up into the head.

This feeling is sexual energy moving through your body. Instead of escaping as an ejaculation, which most men think is the normal course, it takes a different course, nourishing your whole body with orgasmic life-force energy. Eventually, the tingling can turn into vibration, and then build up into a full body orgasm.

One of the main goals in traditional tantric massage is to move the receiver past the experience of mere ejaculation orgasms into the realms of full body and multiple orgasms.

You might have heard of people having ‘tantric sex’ lasting for hours or days. Reducing your need to ejaculate by learning to channel your energy will allow you to do the same. Tantric healing sessions essentially support men in achieving this, through removing energy blockages. These blockages can keep the energy stuck in your prostate, and cause the urgency to ejaculate and overwhelming feelings of sexual frustration.

Tantric Massage and full body orgasm are a life changing experience. Ejaculations are draining, but this kind of orgasm is energising. They are great for your health and energy levels, and create a kind of magnetic vibration that can attract and magnetise what you want. When people talk about orgasmic manifesting, this is what they mean.

Choosing the Right Tantric Massage Practitioner

It’s very important to choose the right practitioner for your personal goals and issues. There are different schools of tantra with different approaches. Some tantric massage practitioners focus more on giving a purely sensual and sexual experience. These sessions are different from traditional authentic tantra which offers the full body orgasm experience, rather than ejaculation.

Other practitioners focus more on the esoteric, and most importantly, healing aspects of the session. They focus on removing blockages and negative emotions, and opening up the flow of sexual energy through the body. These sessions can last 3-6 hours or even longer. It’s important to know the difference between sensual and tantric massage, so you can find an authentic tantric healing practitioner.

A note of warning: Tantric healing massage can be deep work, and potentially trigger past trauma stored in the body. Check that the practitioner has trained with an established school, and look at their website so you can understand their outlook and philosophy, and read client testimonials. Talk to them in advance and ask questions about their approach and qualifications, including if they are trained in holding space for trauma.

You can find a qualified Tantric Practitioner in the Tantralize Directory alongside other professionals, including Intimacy Coaches and Sexological Bodyworkers. If you don’t feel ready to do the work on yourself, perhaps finding an erotic massage provider, and taking a step towards exploring your sexuality, might be a good starting point.
